I Finally Did It — A Little Step Toward a Lifelong Dream

Hey family💛Welcome or Welcome Back!!!!

Y’all. I finally did it. I’m smiling so hard even as I type this because my heart is just overflowing with joy, nervousness, and deep gratitude.

Most of y’all know I’ve been grinding through my studies at the University of Phoenix, working toward my bachelor’s in Education. Becoming a teacher, a writer, a shaper of little minds—that’s been on my heart since I was a little girl. (Thank you, Mama. You were my first teacher and my forever motivator. 💐)

But truth is... life be life-ing.

Between motherhood, marriage, work, and all the roles I carry in this beautiful season of becoming, I had to sit with the real possibility that I may not be able to finish my degree program right now. That was a tough pill to swallow. (Insert one big ol’ sad face here 😔)

But you know what? When one door closes—or even just cracks a little—God opens a whole new path.

As a veteran and someone holding multiple associate degrees, I realized there's another way forward: substitute teaching.

I know, I know. It might not sound glamorous to everyone. And sure, I may not get called in tomorrow or even next week. But it hit me this morning like a wave from the Most High: What are you waiting for? You’ve been wanting to do this for years.

So I just started moving.Looking up info.Checking job postings.Reading about requirements.And y’all—I APPLIED. 🙌🏽

Just like that. No overthinking. No talking myself out of it. I let that stirring in my spirit lead me. And I’m just so proud that I finally took this step.

Nothing's official yet. But sometimes it’s not about the finish line—it’s about honoring the call and taking that first faithful step.

Because when God speaks... I listen. And lately, He’s been showing me so clearly that my purpose has always been tied to building, nurturing, shaping—whether it’s in my home, in my writing, or, prayerfully soon, in a classroom.

So that’s it. That’s the post. Short, sweet, and filled with hope.

All praises to the Most High, who speaks in whispers and shouts, who moves through us in unexpected ways, and who never gives up on the dreams He planted in our hearts. 🌱
